First saltwater tank

Well that section definitely needs a pump to pump the water out and some locline, that will keep water circulating though that section. Now you can measure that section and find a small skimmer that will fit in there similar to the small ones they make for biocubes. Another alternative will be a HOB, or hang on back skimmer.

Either use as a skimmer pickup section or remove that chamber.
If used as a sump overflow you would have to go U tube style and that alone I would not trust

I was thinking of putting the skimmer in there.
But this what I did so water wouldn't get stuck in there. In those holes/openings is where water gets inside of the overflow

I put a powerhead in there cause it sucks the water from one side and takes out to the tank.. Does that make sense

Yes, it definitely needed the powerhead. Not too much room for a skimmer though, might have to use a hang on back.

This what was in there and took it out. What if I buy. A smaller skimmer and maybe have more WC? Would that work?
