Hi I’m new to the saltwater hobby and just got my first tank recently. It’s a 12-gallon that was already set up and running for 4-months with a pair of clarkii clowns, a file fish, and a orange spot goby. Lighting is an Aqueon Optibright LED and filtration is all internal behind the tank. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I’m hoping to add some sort of corals to it eventually as well as some inverts!

That’s what I was thinking, the person we got it from had the fish already but I’m going to try and trade them in to my LFS. Do you think a single Ocellaris Clown will be ok in there?

Welcome to reef2reef! Yes, one would work.

Yes, and the occ clown will be a much better fit for the tank.

Day one in, found a shop to take the clowns and the tank chemistry is looking good for loosing half the water! Hopefully in a week when it settles more I’ll be able to start getting some soft corals and more pictures of it.

I would definetly look into getting a better light for your tank before adding corals. That light is raid for fish only or low to medium light plants. Look into some strip lights from fluval or corallife

Upgrade light and keep an eye on those clowns. 12 gal seems a tad on the small side
