hi there ..I started my first saltwater tank ..its a 50 gallon with eshopps sump..I had water and running on November 25th or so...I believe I'm fully cycled by what my tests show me..however I've had no light on the rank the entire time except when I'm in working on it...I ve noticed a white patch on a few of my rocks..one site being pretty big in size...from what I've googled I believe this to be coraline algea that turned white due to no light..my question is should I start to introduce a light cycle now or does it matter?

Be sure the tank is completely cycled before you add light. The white patch can be many different things. Can you post a picture?

it was live rock and live sand when I started and I added a bottle of fritz zyme 9 as well..ammonia is zero and I've done 2 water changes..my nitrates keep climbing..I had a peice of shrimp in there but the past week I took it out and I've just been ghost feeding
