Hi tomorrow I will be getting a frag of this colony of birdnest coral (I think its a birdnest but not sure if you guys could identify) and I am going to place it on top of my main rock and I was wondering if it would be alright. Its my first sps ever coral and I'm kind of nervous. My parameters are all good, the tank has been running for 7 months. I was also wondering if the light will be sufficient, its an AI prime HD. Thanks for the feedback!

I think the one thing you need to keep in mind is how fast these corals can grow and encrust. Keep it away from its neighbors. Also, it would be wise to test alk frequently if you don't already. Your AI prime HD is fine assuming you have the first 4 channels at the upper end of their strength (they are important for the corals, especcially violet and deep blue). It is also a good idea to drip acclimate.

Honestly birds nest is a rather easy SPS so as long as you keep things like alk relatively stable and provide it with flow you will be fine.

Yes I test alk and its pretty stable, also my schedule for the light has peaks of uv,rb,violet, blue and it runs at +100% for a good part of the day so it should be okay, thank you for your feedback, I will watch closely for the growth and distance from neighbors! Thanks for the feedback :)
