I visited a new LFS store today and I bought my first SPS - Neon Birdnest. The frag is maybe 2.5" across but two of the tips are 1/4" white. I did my acclimate and dip and hit in the frag rack. Are the white tips something to be concerned about? Should I cut the tips back to the soft covering?

Can be many things, even growth
Pics under white lights will be helpful with assessment

This is bleaching. Does Not mean it is dead but has lost its tissue due to any of these factors:
Calcium low
alk high
Phosphate high
Low salinity
Temps too warm
ph low

Keep coral under moderate light and water flow

Temp 77-79
ph 8.1-8.3
salinity 1.025
nitrate < .5
phos < .04
Ammonia < .03
mG 1300
Alk 8-10
CA 440

thank you...the rest of the coral seems to be happy and when I added it to the tank today, I started it on the frag rack low and plan to move it up 25% a week and in a month, cut the frag plug and glue it to the rock

If those tips start to brown. Cut them off and lay the dead portion in tank- It may- MAY revive over time
