First Tank - Looking for Aquascaping Feedback

Hi all,

My first reef tank. 10 Gallon nano. Looking for some constructive feedback on my first aquascaping attempt. I'm hoping to do mostly toadstool, torches, and the like on the right side. Left side will also have some kind of torch near the top with zoos covering the left slope on the bottom. Maybe a mushroom at the bottom right.

What do you all think? Does it look natural or too forced?

Looks nice already but my first reaction is the left sidecould use another piece to make it look more completed.

What about flipping the big rock on the right over and using the three points as kinda "tunnels". I have so many problems aquascaping, maybe I am not the right person to give advice, but my first reaction was to flip it over

Actually you did a really good job aquascaping, assuming the tank is not much taller than what's in the picture.

What are the dimensions of this tank?

It's aesthetically pleasing but you also want to think about functionality.

Are you going to be able to realistically place the corals you want in the exact locations. Steep sides of rock do not allow for much coral placement. I ran into this issue on my first ever tank build. The rocks were aesthetically pleasing and my fish loved them but my final aquascape really limited me in the amount and the type of corals I wanted in my tank.

Overall, it looks very natural. You did a great job but yeah keep coral placement and coral type in mind when choosing the final aquascape.

It's hard to tell from the picture but the rock on the right side is about 3 separate pieces. It has a few relatively flat surfaces for coral (again, not easy to tell from pic). Left side also has a flat spot for a coral then the slope in front will be for zoas. I want the corals to look full without feeling too overcrowded. From what I've seen color choices will be important. My goal is for a full garden to look full but simple. I don't want it to look too crazy with too many colors. I'm enjoying the research as much as setting everything up.

Perfect hobby for me - slow and relaxing. I've read patience is key in reefing.

By the way, rocks came from BRS. I rarely do this but have to give them a big thumbs up. I asked for a variety of rocks that will provide lots of aquascaping options for a 10 gallon. Boy did they deliver! Great variety of shape and sizes. Highly recommend.

Looks nice. Check out this thread for plenty of great ideas. Just remember, the most important question is do you like it? You are the one that gets to look at it everyday.
