thanks guys. yea i am super excited.. but in no rush, so just going to let the tank cycle

as for the roller filter material.. its great there is nothing in the tank but rock sand and RODI water and it is already pulling stuff out of the water. i can see the water level rising and getting close to the float switch to rotate the paper. and that is with zero bi load. so i am happy as of right now.

Welcome aboard!!

thanks...

I do have a question... I set up my tunze osmolator ATO how to you know where to place it so it is level with the sump water level? There is no line or arrow?

Great set-up! I'm jealous of the rollermat. I have a Reefer and decided not to go to the modification level necessary to integrate it.

On the ATO, the water level is on the black bullet shaped piece. My advice is to start low and move it up until it kicks on, then back down to where you want it.

I see an RODI line filling the tank. Do you have it connected directly to the sump with the Tunze? Is that your ATO solution?

Is your return running through the uv? It didn't look like it, so i'm wondering how the uv is being utilized?
Congrats on the tank! What is the livestock plan?

the RODI line was running directly into the tank just for filling. Here is my station as it sits today.. I am waiting for my pump to come in to mix and pump salt to main display.

here is a photo on how the return pump is split to the UV and manifold.

I have water running through the UV but at the moment have it unplugged... The UV is the only item not connected to apex. I didn't see a need for UV control as it will be always on when in use. and i wanted the last plug for a cabinet light. My reed switch just came in and just need to go to home depot to pick up a light to use to so when door opens it comes on.

The roller mat was planned from the very beginning as i didn't want to deal with daily maintenance of cleaning socks.. i just wanted to feed tank and test weekly. I am hoping to be on a monthly to by monthly water change. we will see how that works out. Every 2 months would be perfect. I am trying to make the tank as self sustained as possible.

On the subject of self sustaining, how are you handling the ATO? How large of a reservoir? Sorry if I overlooked it in the thread.

I just had a 10 gallon ATO delivered to the house yesterday. And i fill it manually from the brute containers in the basement

That will probably be the frequent maintenance task you'll dislike the most. The 10 gallons will probably last you 3-4 days.

It drove me nuts, so I used a Tunze Osmolator and their solenoid add-on to connect an RODI system to my ATO reservoir. I have my Apex only power it for a set period of time in the middle of the night. Therefore, you don't get TDS creep from the RODI, and it refills automatically every night.

If that's an option you want to do, I'll write it all up for you.

when i bought my house 4 years ago, I knew i was going to get a tank eventually but i didn't realize what was involved with replenishing the water i would of ran a pipe in the wall i gutted into the basement and could have easily did that but unfortunately it is not an option now and ill have to hump up the water.

ok question #2

I just turned the return pump off to see what the level would get to in the sump to make sure it can handle the water in a power out scenario. But it has been 40 minutes and the water level in the tank hasn't returned to normal and my return nozzles are just making splashes and it is kinda making a mess. How can i speed up the process or the pump pushing all the water back into the tank?
