Hey folks!

I got my 10g nano up and running. I just put in two snowflake clowns and they are doing well. I also have a snail. I fed mysis to my clowns for the first time and at first they seemed scared (LFS fed flakes). But they eventually started eating. I gave them a third of a 3/4 in cube. They ate then stopped and the rest of the shrimp fell to the sand.

My question: what is a good CUC or fish to help pick the sand to avoid nutrient spikes?

Thanks!

brittle sea stars and serpent starfish are cool to look at and are accomplished scavengers

Hermit crabs, emerald crabs, most types of shrimp like peppermint or skunk cleaners will all eat food that falls to the sandbed. Pretty large variety of options. I'm sure there are many more. As far as cleaning the sand, like turning it over and sifting through it... opinions vary. Nasareus snails sp? do some work. Bristle worms (not fire worms) are effective, if not kinda gross.

Have some fun with it. U don't have to buy a "clean up crew." You can get a few members at a time to stay busy with a young tank and really have a chance to see what each does before putting in multiples.
