Not wanting to open up a can of worms here...but curious to everyones thoughts on getting a tank off of craigslist for a DT. Since the PetCo sale is over the large tanks can take up a good size chunk of bulld budget, and you havent even put money into a stand or DIY stand. Is there an inherent danger (other then the weird people, which me and my glock can deal with) with getting a tank from craigslist?

I bought my first tank from Craigslist and had no problems the only bad thing is they could have treated the dt with chemicals such as copper that can leach into your system

I don't think craigslist contributes any more inherent danger than any other source of used tanks (thrift store, garage sale, etc.).

I would just ask lots of questions about the tank (I would do this for purchasing pretty much anything used). Take your time and look over the tank. Check the silicone and make sure it looks good. Depending on the size, I would ask the seller to perform a water test on the spot. As far as cooper leaching, I personally do not think it is a big deal. I find it to be a myth.

craigslist is a great place to find some good deals just bring a friend cause you really never know what can happen know these days

Bringing a friend is what the glock is for...lol

I was just concerned about what the possible danges for a reef tank can be if you get a tank used
