First time Aquascape for 55 gallon

I just did a little more tweaking since we’ll be adding a CUC on Monday and then I’ll be forced to leave it alone! I’m struggling to get the left side raised any higher (the right side is mostly dry rock that I glued together before putting in the tank) I’m tossing around the idea of using a few black zip ties to get some more height. I’ve got two Hydor Koralia’s running alternating on a wavemaker controller, it seems like everything is getting good flow and I have 100% access to the glass for cleaning. The only thing that concerns me is how much the sand is still moving around, I know it’s new and will settle in time but do you think turning things off to manually level the sand is good to do?

I have the same problem. I don't know if you can alter the settings on your pumps but if you can, you can play around with those and see what works best. You could also move the wave makers.

With that fine sand, you will always have issues unfortunately unless you reduce the pumps power way down or adjust the hardscape to redirect some of the flow. I actually like the look of the sand in "waves" rather than flat all the way across. To answer your question though, yes, you can turn off the water movers to level the sand if you want, but it will look like that as soon as you turn them back on.
