I have a maroon clown that only bites me if my hand gets too close to his anemone. he eats out of my hand though. I have the coolest video of me feeding my fish and you can watch the clown eat the small pieces of food, but when he gets one that is too big for his mouth, he takes it and drops in the anemone and feeds it. Nice have a maintenance free anemone.............lol If I knew of a way to post the video, I would but I am new to this forum and do not know all the ins and outs yet.

We had a good size Saddleback clown, a good 3" long with fat body he would always attack. We tried for a good 4 months to get him out but he always hid when the nets went in. We arranged rocks around his anemone to close off escape routes. Last I was in he nipped me really good Drew blood and left 4 tooth marks on my finger.

Next AM he was sleeping good and covered in his home, I drop nets in and finally got him.... I was glad to get rid of him....

Sounds like typical mature clown behavior. I think it's slightly less common with ocellaris clown than with tomato clowns, but still not unheard of.

My ocellaris is relentless with trying to bite me. It when so far as to leap out of the tank to bite me. Luckily for the clown, it ended up in my shirt and not on the floor.

When I had my tomato clown pair, the female was so mean I had to keep a fish net between her and my hand! I just figured she was hormonal. LOL. I sold her and her mate but kept one of their babies and he's a sweetie.

Well, thanks for all of the stories, I am glad I am not the only one dealing with this little ****. My maroon clown never bit me ever when I had him, nor did my tomato clown and I had always heard they were the bullies. Well, I may get rid of the ocellaris mainly because I am getting a larger tank up and running soon and I want a maroon clown again. We'll see what I decide to do, he may have just bit the hand that feeds him and is going to get ousted! :lock1:

last night my tank powerheads and everything went out on me I guess in the middle of the night, because, my fish all had labored breathing this morning. I went to the tank to feed everyone and noticed that the water was still, after getting everything back working again, my goby and pistol shrimp started recovering, but my clownfish developed white spots on both his sides and he will not be making it through the night most likely. Looks like I will be getting my maroon clownfish after all by default. It always stinks to lose fish, but, hey something good is coming out of it! :clock:
