Hello R2R. I just started a 45 gallon set up that I got second hand. The rock is all dry, but I'm hoping to get some Gulf rock to put in soon. For now, the skimmer is going wild and so are the clowns! My daughter named them Rock and Shell, and my 3 month old likes to watch them too!

Thank you all for the time you have put into posting and maintaining this forum. There is some great info here! It had been a great help in learning about fish keeping. I'm looking forward to how things progress in this tank. Next step is a couple snails, and maybe a Duncan coral after that. Cheers!

Make sure the tank is fully cycled and I would recommend a phosphate, alkaline, and calcium testing kit to keep you Duncan alive, your doing great

I will follow up on getting more test kits for sure! As for qt, I'm not sure yet about setup. I have one ten gallon tank that I can use, but I have only studied much on fish. I understand people like to do qt with inverts as well to avoid pests. I only have that one extra tank for now. I'm planning to take it slow, but I see how people can get carried away with the excitement!

Welcome to Reef2Reef! That tank looks very nice and I would concentrate on feeding small protions of chopped live clams to improve the tank and their health quickly.

What lighting do you currently have?

The lighting is two cheap Zetlight led 50% white 50% blue. They came with the tank, so I am using them for now. There are a lot of options out there, and most are expensive. Tough decision to make on how to upgrade.

I don’t really qt my inverts as from what I read I believe any one eat they carry can not be transferred to fish as there biology is different so is the disease they can carry. I think the ten gallon is fine I would set it up as normal tank cycle it and rocks. I usually don’t add sand as it’s May be more work to clean I have had spong filter in saltwater so I would just us a hygger sponge filter, a cheap heater and a desk lamp if you want to keep it cheap.
