quick probably stupid question. I have a new tank up and running. 75 gallons. I had a few coral frags in a Nano tank I am moving over they were in the tank about 2 months still on my coral rack.

I just took them off the rack for the first time I placed them all on the plugs just on existing holes in my rock to see how they do. 1 Hammer coral broke off its plug so I had to glue to a rock. Its my first time glueing down a coral.

I guess my question is what do you do if it does not like the spot its in? I am used to just moving the plug to a new spot. Maybe a better question is is it ok rather than glue to just wedge the frag plug in a rockwork hole and wait for the coral and coralline to cover it up.

Or should I glue em all down

I have had tanks for a while but just got a larger tank and sump and want to have a few corals.

If the coral quickly does not like the spot move it down to the bottom. If after a while it starts not liking its spot move it up the tank. I would find a spot the coral likes and then glue it. I have some big trocus snails so gluing is a must for me.

You can just prop corals in the spots you think they will be happy to try out- as long as you dont have snails or crabs or flow that will knock them off. If you do need to glue them, (like your hammer) you have to move the light or the rock if they arent happy- or remove them from the rock like with bone cutters or an actual hammer. Give it a lot of time to adjust though. Hammers do not like being moved or messed with and it can take a few weeks to forgive you and come out and adjust to light and flow and decide they are happy. Most corals can adapt to a wide range of lighting parameters and grow happily so just be patient. = )
