I got this little guy about 48 hours ago. It varies from hiding behind the filter, swimming around, and looking at the top breathing heavily. I expect ich and internal parasites. I'm running Cupramine and prazipro. I did a 25% water change yesterday, but I think ammonia is still a problem, it looks like ammonia burn on the top fin. In the filter I just added some biolpellets from my DT to battle the ammonia. Ammonia is reading .06ish on the badge. What do I do from here?

I would do a WC and add biospira

I am making water now and I will get some biospira tomorrow. Wife is telling me that cupamine is poisonous to hippos now, anyone heard anything on this?

Ionic coppers like Cupramine can "sometimes" be a bit tough on many tangs. Especially if the Cupramine is not slowly added to the QT over several days in small increments up to therapeutic level.

CP (Chloroquine phosphate) is not recommended on Hippos.

thank you, I will give it a try. A follow up question would be what would be the go to foods to get a guy like this to eat. I would like to believe that he has nipped at the nori but I can not be positive. I would also pick up so mysis shrimp tomorrow as well to see if that does the trick.

Consider feeding frozen foods and making your fish a "smoothie".

Get a variety of frozen fish cubes: mysis, brine shrimp, cyclops, chopped clams, mussels, reef mix, seaweed, etc. ; the more the better but make sure one of them is seaweed for the tang's unique needs. Place one of each flavor in a tupperware or other similar container. Place in the fridge and let "slump." Pour off the excess liquid. The mix will stay good in your fridge for several days. Can also add a couple of drops of fish vitamins to the mix: Selcon or Zoecon.
