I’ve done a few freshwater tanks but this is my first reef tank and would like some feedback

I like the look. I think it will allow good flow. As corals grow out, it will have a really good look. Just make sure you have ___ number of sleeping places for ___ number of fish you will keep.

What coral is going on the edge of that table?

I haven’t really decided. My last tank was poorly planned and I’m trying to research and get ideas

Yeah looks great! Just keep in mind that the light will be quite a bit stronger on that ledge, and that the top of the rock NOW won't be the top of the 'scape once corals grow in on the top :) I've heard keep the top of the scape no higher than 60-75% of the total depth to leave room for coral growth up top. Personal preference to some extent though.

Yeah I’ve got the red sea reefer 525 which is around 21-22 inch display height and I still have about 6 inches above the highest point. I’ve been wanting to try acropora and was thinking the ledge could be a great spot.

Build a habit for your fish first, not an aquascape for your eye. Every fish should have a hole to sleep in or hide in. Preferably two. I would add more rock.

I think it looks great. If you've been wanting to try acros, try to keep the height limited as sps will grow fairly high when you get to that point. An idea is putting a showpiece acro on that ledge if you want.

Redid mine before it went into the tank - trying to figure out if I need to add some more

Got everything set up and some fish added. The female trigger found her spot in the Rocks and the male has tried many spots but settled on sleeping behind the return nozzle

Looks really cool. I look forward to seeing this grow!

I like the asymetry - looks good. Depending on what corals you want to grow, a good rule of thumb is to not go much above 1/2 the height of the aquarium with rock - assuming you will have some corals that will grow half of the remaining height, then 1/4 of water over the corals for flow, swim space, etc. If you want to try acros, if your tank is 21", your colonies will easily get to 8-10", so you might lower that highest peak. Though, it does look cool now : )

Almost a year in! Had to add some more rocks (as a couple people pointed out I needed more caves for fish to hide). Not great at coral organization so any suggestions are appreciated.

Looks great! I learned the hard way when I built mine to really keep coral growth in mind. I got tied up in the excitement and made a cool rock but not a good coral spot lol

Yeah that’s another reason for adding more rocks. I was looking at new corals and had no where to put them
