Hi

My big rose bta has split once where about 1/4 has come off and the other 1/4 appears to be in the process of splitting of the main big half. Below are pics of the new before splitting and where it and the split are at now. Does this look normal and are there any special care considerations following a split?

Exactly how mine looked when it split. I’ve heard to not feed it for 7-10 days until it’s fully healed, and don’t do any water changes during that time as that can cause stress. I’m no nem expert just what I’ve read and also what I did, and both of mine healed nicely.

From the pictures, it looks like a normal split to me. Mine have only split one at a time and then healed before it split again. I also suggest not feeding it for some time to let it heal up and not worry about food digestion (also the clowns will try to feed it naturally if the anemone is hosting it/them) I've not personally seen 1 anemone split into several at the same time. Keep us updated!! Congrats!!! It's one of the coolest things to see.

So interesting update about 2 days later the large piece in pic 3 above split again so now have 3 nems and it looks that the still largest original that the first 2 splits came off is splitting again for the third time (giving me 4 nems)

hopefully that will be all for a while. Each nem from the split is almost the size of the palm of my hand when fully extended

checked my parameters twice just in case any everything is the normal and all other corals etc are doing well and my green bta is behaving normally (not splitting). Just crazy to think that my small dinner plate size nem has become 4 palm sized nems In a week.

That’s awesome!! Nature is weird. Lol. I’ve read that stress causes splits. I’ve read over feeding does. Ive read so much and no one seems to really know 100%. Mine all seemed to split after a feeding ( I️ cut Up a raw shrimp into pieces and touch it to a tentacle or give it to the clown to hand it off. ) if the other corals and fish seem happy just keep doing what you’re doing!! Love the updates

i almost wonder if it’s an attempt to grab territory the splitting appears to have finished and all 4 are about the same size and starting to puff up and return to a normal shape. Where they have chosen is all in a row along the same pice of rock that the one whole nem was on just with better coverage now.

Funny thing is that was the one nem I stopped feeding cause it didn’t seem intrested and had the clown to take care of it, only feed my other green Nem.

Will just carry on as everything seems to be happy.below are the now 4 nems and the green. Excuse the alge that’s what too much aminos will do to your rock.
