First time Salt and Coral owner, advice on placement?

Hi there,

I'm an owner of a Fluval Evo 52l tank. I've 2 frostbite clowns, a fire fish, Cardinal, Cleaner Shrimp and Turbo Snail.

Recently purchased our first corals. A Kenya tree, Green people eater zoa, a star polyp and a cabbage.

The Kenya tree seems to be doing well, cabbage seems to have settled in but the zoa and polyp seem to be struggling (been ok since Friday).

Any advice on where I should ideally place them would be fantastic.

I’d leave everything settle and see how that goes .

personally …. And imo I would add a few more rocks , which will provide more hiding places , more placement options , and more biological filtration .
Moving forward …… stability is far more important . Let things mature and settle .

Zoas are a bit tricky. Many acclimate quite well an are very easy to care for. While others, especially high end ones can sometimes be difficult. Your gsp are a real easy coral. They should really be doing fine???

So sounds like it's doing ok and just need to be patient. Will look at adding some more rock, we have dry rock in at the minute, may look at adding more

I’m saying, let your corals get used to your system. Some may never so just don’t purchase that type again. But with time many will, stick with those.

I have the same tank as you. I did add a powerhead to help with flow. I had zero luck with GSP until my tank was well established, 10 months or so in.

That's good to know. Did you use the power head with the usual pump or separately?

They are fine. Zoas can take a week or two to settle in. GSP can take up to a month. Just keep the GSP clean until it opens (medium-high flow and blow off occasionally with a turkey baster). Once they settle in they’re pretty bullet proof, but they don’t like being moved.
