I'm starting a 29g nano fowlr with 10g DIY sump and I have quite a few questions. My only previous marine experience is in a 2-month old 10g that's got so many water quality issues i've started to lose count!!

I'm planning on buying this 300gph CPR continuous siphon overflow (Aquarium Overflow Filters: CPR Continuous Siphon Overflow) and this pump (KollerCraft Aqua Lifter: Aquarium Dosing Pump) to keep the siphon from breaking. I'm very concerned about flooding; will this setup keep my siphon from breaking as it claims? Do I need to purchase the filter fitting to keep the pump from clogging?

I'm using this 296gph return pump (Aquarium Water Pumps & Water Movement: Lifegard Aquatics Quiet One Pro Aquarium Pumps). Will that be adequate?

How do I install this equipment? Is it just a matter of buying the correct size PVC pieces, somePVC glue (or threaded joints?) and mounting brackets? How do I fit the PVC to the overflow box and return pump? Should the overflow pipe sit inside the water in the sump, or just over it? Should the return pipe shoot water downwards into the display tank or horizontally, and does it also rest inside the water?

How and how often do I maintenance this equipment? How can I prevent the pipes from clogging? How can I keep this system as quiet as possible? Do you guys have any other tips?

How many gallon will you sump be? The return pump should be fine depending on how high it will have to pump water back to your display tank. I don't know much about this overflow box because my tank has an internal overflow box and you don't have to worry as much about a overflow going all over your floor. Your drain line can be in the water of the sump or just over it. As for your return pipe. I have mine just under the water so that if the power gos out the siphon will break before overflowing my sump. I use hoses on my tank but if your good at plumbing pvc looks nice.

Following. I'm setting up my first sump too. Can you drill the tank? It would be much safer if you could set up an internal overflow. As far as the return, lots of people set it up horizontally above the water line so it will aerate the water. Also, you're less likely to disturb the sand or anything else this way. Good luck!

The cpr overflow is bulletproof with the aqualifter P_20150801_173910.jpg

You can get the filter as I would recommend it if you are not able to monitor it
otherwise I just blow the lines out.
watch for small debris in the pickup of the overflow. You will notice cause it will pump slower.
