How long have you had the fish? My tank has only been up for about 3 months now, but every new fish i've added has taken a few days before they seem interested in food. I would take a cube and cut off a small piece I then thaw it out with some tank water in a small 1/4 measuring cup. I turn off the flow and pour in a little bit at a time near the fish. If they are not interested then I just throw the small bit away ( Now that I have some fish that actually eat I just feed it to them). Either way that way you don't add any extra food that will just pollute the water.

I feel like the newness should kinda be over by now, their almost 3 weeks old for my tank. I know everything in general is relatively new, but he had been eating and it’s like he decided he’s over it. I’m gonna try the mysis tomorrow, and if that doesn’t work I guess I’m back to square one lol crossing my fingers it works tho.

Metal (stainless steel) tea strainer over a small plastic Dixie-cup to melt/rinse one or two cubes.

Also make sure the mysis is small enough for them to eat too. You could also try brine shrimp. It doesn't have the necessary marine fats, or so i've read, but my fish go crazy for them so I feed them as a snack now and then. Good luck!

He was eating at one point? Has anything changed in the tank? Water perimeters in check?

Don’t have a tea strainer, but I do have reusable dishwasher safe kuerig pods! Thanks for the idea!

I’m pretty sure my water is fine for the most party I had it tested at the LFS and they told me my alkalinity was just low. I ended up buying an alkalinity buffer they said throw it in once a week and again whenever I water change. I’d been keeping an eye on everything becomes I’m paranoid, but figured I’d let them check it too. I’m really just hoping the little guy is picky lol

A handy investment. And the large metal kitchen strainers that cooks use, for large batches of food (or multiple cubes). Best wishes!

I have little plastic bottles with nozzles. I put in a little salt water (about 20 ml) and drop in the frozen cube. At feeding time, I squirt the food in. I do about 4 bottles and keep them in the fridge along with 4 bottles of enriched brine shrimp. My fish get brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, a mixture of pellets and nori daily.

I would not recommend waving cubes around in the tank. Freezing and thawing are not good for food quality. You are better off dissolving in a little salt water and keeping it in the fridge until you use it up. In the fridge, it should keep for a number of days.

I thaw my mysis cubes by swishing them around in a bit of RO water, pour the result into a ziploc bag, lay that on its side in the freezer, and freeze it. It refreezes into a thin sheet that's very easy to break bits off of, and it's only thawed for a very short amount of time, pretty much all of it spent at refrigeration temperature. Great way to do it when you just need a few mysis at a time.
