hey all. I’ve been running my Fluval Evo 13.5 gal since 7/1. Been topping off with RO water as necessary. When should I do my first water change and how much should I change? Also with regards to the filter, it comes with with a foam filter and has two compartments- I have carbon in one and bio max in the other. What’s the maintenance on these two as well? Thanks!

2gals either every week or every 2 weeks.

BE CAREFUL on salinity!!!! 13.5gals isnt.much water volume and salinity can go way high really quick on you.

Hopefully you own a refractometer. If you don't I super highly suggest you get one and read salinity every 2 days

10% is the general ‘normal’ amount but some do more some do less. I do around 20% every 3-4 weeks these days but that’s in an established system.

Just make sure the new water has similar parameters as said above, to avoid any swings which may upset your system. Marine life ‘needs stability ‘ which is the key.

Oh and welcome to R2R!
