First torch coral need advice

I agree with hygger wave maker as I have one myself in a small 10g

Anyway don’t be intimidated by torches, not hard just not always recommended as a first piece. Pick up the kits I’ve previously mentioned, start it in lower flow and go from there. You don’t want to blast it with too much of anything right now. Start low and build it up

Hygger makes a great small tank wave maker that is adjustable and affordable. I’ve been running the larger one for a year and a half and really like it.

Just got My first pricey piece of coral and want to make sure everything goes right with this, my flow is mid range just need some tips on care and what should I look out for these next couple days

It doesn’t look upset…. Just observe it for now. I don’t have much luck with torches. I have better luck with anemones strangely.

Torches are generally pretty tolerant to higher flow and higher lighting, so you should be good. I think Torches are pretty easy to keep as long as your nutrients aren't too low. Some folks struggle with Torches, so you'll want to give it time before buying more and see how it goes.

Try to keep them away from Hammers and Frogspawn and pretty much anything else. They will sting and kill their neighbours.

My first coral was a Kenya tree and it survived a 3 day old tank and I had got a anemone with it survived a month and it started melting

Looks fine, for some reason some of mine retract a lot more then that at night. I assume it’s the ph swing but I can’t do much about it without having a fuge so…..
Anyways yours is fine

Just put the pump in its just perfect thank you guys, I haven’t noticed any pests on the torch besides Spirorbis my lfs said it’s harmless on the skeleton

I think most importantly is to have stable parameters so whatever you change just do it slow and torches are fairly forgiving (for me atleast)

But i do notice mine start coloring up more when my nutrients are higher
IE NO3: 20ppm
PO4 0.1ish lol

(All those torches on the top right came from one colony six months ago!)

Got my nutrients tested my magnesium was just under 11800 salinity was at 1.026 phosphates just right and nitrates are good parameters seem fine just the torch is slightly deflated

Hm, is the magnesium, 11800 a typo? Torches seem to be happy with magnesium around 1400.

Yes my fault my mag is slightly below I’m fairly new to this hobby so I’m getting a understanding of all the readings lol so yea right under 1400 my lfs told me

1350 is the normal number but torches frogspawn and hammers seem to thrive at 1400. I try to keep mine slightly above 1400. Happy reefing!
