Everywhere i look i see that adding more than one Tang to a tank says " caution" . Same thing with Dwarf Angelfish. I see lots of tanks that have many tangs or dwarf angels. i was thinking of getting a Kole Tang or a Tomini Tang, but would love both only if there will not be an issue. i choose those 2 tangs because i have a 75g and dont want to crowd. i had a yellow before and he certainly acted like it was "his tank". so thoughts on those 2 tangs.

The flame angel and coral beauty have always caught my eye, same question with these 2 fish. I plan on having corals too, do either of these fish bother certain kinds or any or all coral?

I plan on having a few other small reef safe fish in the tank with them. When starting a tank would you add all the fish at once ( as in same day introducing least aggressive fish first) or should i get maybe a pair of clowns and firefish, let them get used to tank, then later add the tang / tangs and angels.

thanks for any advice

First off, the Tangs I would try introducing them at the same time. Also Since they are bigger fish, imo you are going to be limited to the amount of fish you will be putting in since they do take up some real estate. If I were you I would try to stick to one. As for the dwarfs go. I think you should have no problem keeping both of them even a third if you wanted to other than them being aggresive towards each other. Again if you could introduce them all the same time. Tangs and dwafs can both be very territorial so just a word of caution. As for the Angels picking at the coral it is a 50/50 chance. Imo they will eventually go for the coral. I see this happening more often than not.

I'm a tang person so I'll try and help. IMO, they would be fine together if introduce at the same time. Koles and tominis from what I have seen are usually laid back, but can hold their own ground. Most of the zebrasoma species have a "I'm in charge" attitude at first, but usually settle down. Just on a side note, the kole may become a bit of a tank hog and almost outgrow the system. Not saying I wouldn't or you didn't have plans upgrading later. I had a purple in a 55, but upgraded (as most of us do) to a 125 (which was plenty) and now a 240. GL

Some tangs are more aggressive than others and if added first they will bully the ones put in after. Also Some tangs can't be housed together because they have similar body shapes or other similarities and will fight. Same thing goes with the two dwarf angels that you mentioned, they won't get alone because of the similar body shapes. Dwarf angels are hit or miss as far as picking on corals, some have them with no problems and others lose corals to them. If you do decide to try one just be sure to have a back up plan just in case they don't work out.

You wouldn't want to add all your fish at once since you would overload your bio-filtration and have an ammonia spike that can harm your fish and corals. You should add your fish from the least aggressive first to the most aggressive last. If you are unsure of the compatibility of a fish you want to get in the future just ask questions first, its better for your pocket and the fish.

Thanks for the replies, all good points. i really want coral so im really unsure about the angels, & it will be a long time before i get a bigger tank. i had to pull some strings on this size and explain to the girlfriend that there was not way i was setting up a small salt tank. lol . i may just go with one tang and then a 4 or 5 small fish and call it good.

i know i want a tang but im having trouble on deciding, truth is there were other tangs i like, just dont have or plan to do a 125g or larger tank.

What type of corals? I have a flame and coral beauty together (( along with a multicolored )), and they get along fine, in a 65. They do, however, love fleshy LPS, like open brains.
