Recently one of my clownfish has started to bully my gold assessor and fire shrimp, what are somethings I can do that might lessen the aggression. Seeing as how I like the shrimp and gold assessor much much more, how can I trap the clown if it comes down to it? @eatbreakfast I know you are pretty knowledgeable, any suggestions?

I made myself a small acrylic box and trap the fish there all the time. I just feed them in the box and they get super comfortable to go in. Next time, you just scoop him out. Also, since clowns sleep out in the open you may want to try catching him with a net at night

You wanna hear what i did, it sounds crazy, i know, ask me why it came down to it, i had no choice i hadda purple tang and a clown ruthessly trying to kill my rhomboid and a cleanershrimp, i used a mirror and it acually worked only downside was i had 19 fish sitting infront of my gfs makeup mirror for a halfof day goin bazerk. I took it away during feedings nd waited to put it back till aggression started again, luckly the mirror trick lasted untill lights out and everything went back to normal the next morning, wouldnt help to try brotha

I've read the mirror works well a lot of times. I've also left the net in tank before lights out n scooped out a bully while it was docile. Propped the net near where it slept it worked well.

I'll give it a try! Would feeding more help? I feed once every other day

Thanks, I guess I will just try and trap it

Somehow I didn't get the alert and just 'happened upon' this thread.

Once a clown begins to behave aggressively it rarely gets better.

If he greats you to feed a quick scoop of the net will usually do the trick. If you miss the clown will usually go back to where it hosts. If it is an anemone, I find putting the net in front and your hand behind and directing it slowly to the net works for clowns. If that doesn't work, the 'mirror trick' usually gets them to come to the glass to 'fight' the percieved rival, and it can be scooped up then.

I waited until couple hours after lights out and netted my clowns while they were asleep. Was very easy.

I would rearrange some rocks, if the clown is hosting move the coral or nem. I also noticed the more i feed the more friendly they all are.
