Hey Guys,

I have a 425g tank with around 25 large fish including a very aggressive purple tang. Everyone has been getting along great, until last week. My purple tang suddenly turned into a monster and started to attack my yellow tang. Both are a about the same size, however the YT is very submissive. This continued for several days and the yellow looked like he might be a goner.

Just before my purple turned nasty I ran out of frozen food and started to feed pellets, they were on pallets for a few days before the aggression started.

Well as soon as I started to feed frozen again, everybody started to get along great again.

It is clear that fish aggression is directly related to their diet (quantity and quality) of food.

Anyone else notice this?

Interesting observation. I’m not a fish psychologist (lol), but I could see the Purple Tang going on a ‘rage’ without his frozen food.
