Hello all. I have a 75 gallon mixed reef with various fish and corals, including a diamond goby and a royal dottyback. They are both quite small in size, about 4-5 cm, the royal gramma just slightly bigger. The dottyback has been in the tank for about 3 months, the goby for about 2. In the beginning, there were no problems, they used to hide in a cave each and the goby used to happilly float on the sand and sift all day. About 2 weeks ago, I saw the dottyback chasing the goby around the tank. Things got worse, to the point that the goby is hiding under a rock all day, too scared to even come out and eat, while the bicolor dottyback seems to be hunting for it and chasing it away as soon as it sees it. I really feel sorry for the goby and don't know what to do about this. Any ideas? Thank you

Unfortunately the royal or bicolor dottyback is an extremely aggressive fish. You likely have to rehome it because the aggression toward the goby is unlikely to end

Most dottys are really aggressive. The royal is one that really does best in a large tank with large fishes like tangs, triggers, angels.

The Dotty is likely going to end up killing the goby. I would recommend getting the Dotty out asap and hope the goby can recover. Might consider a royal gramma instead, they are non aggressive generally.

Thanks. There are large fish in the tank. A blue hippo, 2 clowns, a pyjama, 2 damsels, a valentini. He is only after the goby
