I’ve started my upgrade tank and it’s ready for my original setup. Before I move fish over I want to double check I’m not starting with disease in the new tank. Are the following injuries from fish aggression or a disease I should treat and run the original tank fallow? These fish are in a 22gallon and the female clown is a terror. She bites me whenever my hand enters the water. The flame hawk holds their own against her.

Can you share a little history of your tank?

Are these the only fish? How long have you had them? Did you perform QT when you first got the fish, and if so, what protocol ? Any behavior issues or changes?

The clownfish does appear to have some injuries that may have been caused by aggression.. some possibilities that other issues may also be present.

I bought the tank from a fellow reefer with only rock, sand, and some mushrooms back in November. A month later I added the 2 clowns from a reputable LFS. No qt just straight in to the tank. They paired up. They sleep in a torch coral frag. Then a few months later I wanted to increase my nitrates and bio load so considered another fidh. I wanted one that could hold its own against the female clown. I figured a hawk also wouldn’t occupy similar swimming space. The hawk came from a local reefer. Again no QT. But maybe a month later they all started showing the signs you see in the pictures. It’s been that way since. Ghetto all act healthy and normal. They eat well, I recently started feeding black worms and frozen. Before that they mostly got spectrum pellets.

1. Could be injury as others have said
2. It could be trauma from something else.
3. Since you say you are just moving fish xx to tank yyy with no other changes - it's probably injury.

These look like bite marks and hawk is my prime suspect followed by another clown. Stinging is also possible from anemone or coral but im sure bite marks. To confirm, next time you feed, set your cell phone on video mode for about 40 mins and drop a little food and walk away - YOU MUST walk away as they know youre there. Often the aggressor is a bully at feeding time.
Review the video and see who it may be

I’ll try the video. I wouldn’t be surprised if the large clown and the hawk are equal aggressors. At least the hawk doesn’t bite my hand.

The clown if larger often the female will pull these stunts and hog the food, bite the smaller clown and claim territory

I believe it is ich. I transferred 3 frags (dipped them in peroxide) from the tank with the hawk and clowns to a new tank I setup. All fish in new tank were QT’d or came from Biota. A few days after adding the frags my White Tail Tang developed some white spots. Today my baby yellow tang has a few. I’m getting a stock tank tomorrow so I can QT and fallow this new tank. Ugh I’m feeling defeated.
