I have a 7 month old 13.5 Fluval, and I want to get some new fish. I only have corals and such now. Everything is thriving and I did just buy a 60 gal new tank. I want to add some new fish that I can eventually transfer to my big tank. I thought about two clowns a goby and a shrimp. I literally cannot find a blood red fire shrimp anywhere. So that's sad. If I don't get a bonded pair how long does it take for them to bond? Do they lay eggs in a DT easily? Everything I see on youtube is a basic plain tank so I was unsure. I don't want to overload my tanks ability but it's also 7 months old. What kind of goby/shrimp would you recommend? I've always been set on a fire shrimp but I have had a peppermint and cleaner shrimp before just not in this tank.

Do you mean for the fire shrimp to lay eggs? They carry them under the tail and you can’t really see them because their carapace is so opaque. Imports are basically shut down right now, you likely won’t find one until COVID is over, my shop only has 1 pair left. The goby and pistol shrimp should pair almost instantly. In a 13 I would do a candy cane pistol with a high fin goby. I don’t like putting clowns in anything under 30 gals but if they’re going to be moved in a few months a baby ocellaris or two should be fine!

All depends on the clowns. Most of mine haven’t began breeding until they were 5ish years old. My client had had his for maybe 10 years and they didn’t start breeding until we took over the tank 3 months ago. Some will never lay eggs, some will start young. I have never had them start laying eggs in anything under 75 gallons personally, although a client has had them lay eggs in a 40 breeder. They have to be very happy and healthy in order to start laying!
