hey guys , I been noticing that all my fish breathing fast! Don’t know why! Are they stressed? And how can I make them breath normal? I put air pump in there for more oxygen and I turned off the lights for now to see if that helps . Tank info, 75gallons, cycled, slot of live rocks, corals and some crabs shrimp and snails. I have like 7 fish in there. Temp is 77F , amonia, nitrite and nitrate is 0. Ph is 7.8 to 8.1, ph is 0.20
Salt is 1.024 no clorine, have live sand and gravel . Any recommendation?

Any pictures of your setup? How much surface agitation do you have?

The fish been there for 2 months now. But since then they been breathing fast I thought it’s normal until I was at the local store and saw how the fish breath there so calm and nice . I added another few fish yestarday and they are breathing super fast

What size fish? 2" or closer to 5"?

Normally adding 1 fish per week unless they are small.

Possible illness, parasite attacking the gills and making them function poorly.

They are all like small and biggest one is like 2.5 inches , how do I know if there is parasites and how can I cure that if this was the case?

You're water chemistry, the things that would affect the fish would be sg (specific gravity/salt level), ammonia, very high nitrates. Was your tank finished cycling? also maybe the oxygen level in your water.

Or as the other party mentioned there is a disease or parasite in your tank affecting the fish. Any new fish you add will also be affected.

I posted all that in my post already! But I will post it again
Everything seem to be healthy
No amonua nitrite or nitrate. pH is 7.8 to 8.1. Pa is 0.20 , salt is 1.024 temp is 77F , tank been cycled for few months already . And I understand the other party said it might be parasite my question was how do you know if there is parasite or not the fish seem colorful and active not sure

Hello Nf, A Qt iis a smaller tank with filter & all so a new fish can be observed for illness, eating well& treatment if necessary before putting them in the display tank.

Check ammonia levels. Ammonia can burn gills, so do the gills look red?
Edit -just saw you listed 0 ammonia

Any powdery appearance to the fish, swimming into powerhead flow, hiding, scratching against rocks or substrate?

Pics of the fish?

I would have your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels confirmed with another test kit. LFS should be able to do this if you don't know anyone else with kits.

Sounds like possible ammonia , and I would think some nitrate should be present if you are cycled.

took a water sample to the store and they confirmed no ammonia or any of the harmful chemicals but the fish doesn’t swim toward the power head and

Is that a Moorish idol in there?? What's your stocking list? Is that a Koran angel behind the rock?

Info on Moorish Idol: https://www.advancedaquarist.com/2012/10/fish

I would not add anything else to the tank, for at least another month or three.

Breathing heavy could be from stress, more likely from a parasite such as ich or velvet.. I would probably pick up some acriflavine and copper to have on hand so if they pop more symptoms you will have something on hand. (Also need a hospital tank to treat)

Yes that’s Koran angel and idol I have like 7 fish in there but again how do I know if they are sick or not!? And how can I treat them? And what is the hospital tank??

do any of the fish besides the clown (clarkii?) have white marks on their bodies, like they got stung? I notice you have a carpet anemone (stychodactyla). They have potent stings for fish other than clowns that will host with them -- and such stings could cause shock/rapid breathing/death. Though usually that happens faster than seems to be suggested here, and most often fish that get stung get stuck and eaten. Frankly, having lost some expensive fish to st anemones in the past ($75 purple tank, large butterfly of some sort (don't recall sp)), I won't house such anemone again
