Fish building/man cave build!

I get given a lot of filament to test. So, I have built up a considerable collection.

I found a roll of orange that is a bit shiny (I will try it later on a textured bed) the is almost a dead on match.

Fulament standard PETG orange.

It doesn't look like it in the photos but in person it's really good.

I am ordering a roll of PLA as well to see if it matches.

To top it off, the guy who owns the place and I have become friends over the last 4 years. He is really a good person.
I may need to strike a deal for you to print some things. Just not sure what I need yet lol.

The stand of the twins is steel, upgrade will be ali box.

I debated. We have three different welders, a chop saw, oxyacetylene and a plasma torch. But, in then end, alu won out because it wasn't much more and was a lot less work.

This stuff is a blast to work with as well.

Next, on the agenda, is rebuilding the 12 foot stand. I wasn't wanting to redo it, but, the doors are warped and I would have to rebuild them anyway. They would cost about $200 to do by themselves.

I can completely redo it and make it match the stand I did yesterday for about $600 including the design for the doors I came up with that I think will be really nice looking.

If it works out as well as I think, it will be easier to install, take up less room and give me more room under the tank.

Bonus is the desk, AIO stand, 187 stand and 12 foot stand will match. The 187 stand will be built the same way for about half of the twelve foot stand since I am buying nuts, bolts, hinges and plates in bulk.

I am so glad I found the deflection calculator I did. I am going to test the stand I built yesterday with the AIO filled up, just to make darn sure before I order the rest of the stuff.

Added to my library today.

been looking for these for years.

Wow, genuine books. They are hard to find. I stop in Half Priced Books now and then looking. I have a couple of Axelrod's books. What a fellow. He past at the age 89 a few years back.

Looks like this is going to be a awesome build. Following.

I actually talked to him twice. He was very interesting. His take on fish care was both groundbreaking and insiteful at the time (late 80s early 90s)

Glad to have you along for the ride!

I finished the OSB on the two outside walls just now. Also, put on ribs, gumbo (made a 45 minute roux) and now am cleaning up my mess inside and out. Obviously, my wife is out of town or I would have been monitored and made to sit down. lol

I plan on getting the wrap up today if at all possible when my younger son gets off work then I can put the window in.

If my older son ever gets his dang kayak out of the way, I can frame the last wall.:mad::mad:

Got the lower part of the wrap done and the window in. couldn't wait on my son. LOL

I will have to have help with the upper part of the wrap.

Got the yard cleaned up, the kayak moved and a bunch of the mess in the carport taken care of.

Today, it is pouring rain and I need 15 more 2x4x10, so I am basically at a stand still except maybe some small stuff.

Ok this is ridiculous. And typically Alabama. We are now under a winter storm warning.

so I may not finish framing this weekend
Not just you man, me too lol.

But hopefully this is the last one. Typical almost mid march last run of ol man winter.

light them fires ... ;) :)

So, I decided not to do doors on the AIO discus tank stand. Instead, I am going to put shelves with my library of aquarium books under it.

I still need to figure out how to run the lines for the AWC using the DOS and Apex. I would have to go up and over a door to get from the water station to the sump. Maybe I can use a cool color of tubing and make a display of it?

My buddies Ryan and Ray came over yesterday to help. It was just too cold for Ray. :) Ryan and I got the last wall framed and ready for OSB. That will happen later today. The goal of being weather tight by the end of March is almost in the bag. I may even have electrical and insulation done by then.

On a side note: There was a two fold reason for their visit. My friends and family have gotten together to get me my birthday present early. They are buying me Enchroma prescription glasses! For those of you who don't know, I am severely color blind. 4% of the world's population has some form of colorblindness. Less than 25% of those people are as colorblind as I am according to the test. It's called Strong Protan Colorblindness. This has been a life long struggle in many ways. Although I enjoy a sunset and fall leaves and reef tanks, I don't know what it's like to see what everyone who isn't colorblind sees. This is an incredible gift for them to give to me. I don't know how I will react, but, I am sure tears will be involved. :) I love my whole weird family.
