Hey all just wanted to make a post about what happened last night. I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of my Red ruby dragonet getting sucked in and cut up through the back of the wavemaker. Sadly he died right when I was able to get him out. I just ordered a anemone/Fish guard off of eBay for the SLW-10. If you plan on buying one of these wavemakers I would buy a guard for them as I think these style wavemakers just are fish killers. Just wanted to share what happened because I don’t think anyone wants to see their fish get all cut up

Yikes I've had my mp40s eat a few small fish now, also I lost a pea puffer to a jebao pump the old 20 style. Hopefully that helps I have the slw5 I believe it's the smallest one in my 10g. I have a nano blenny and one clownfish in there tho and they've been ok but they're from my reef that has mp40s so idk. I'll probably get the guard also because now I'm kind of worried the blenny could go In there possibly, he usually is in the rockwork tho. I know mandarins are pretty slow swimmers so they can't really fight that fast of a current sucking them in. Sorry for your loss they're beautiful fish.

This is one of the main reasons I go with Vortech's. I hate spending the money on them, but there are so many great nem guards available got them these days. I am trying to go pumpless on my current build and using only RFG nozzles with higher flow from the return. So far, it is working well.
