So I currently have a maroon clownfish, 3 green chromis, and one cardinal fish in my tank. Along with 2 peppermint shrimp and some snails. I wanted to add another fish but wasn' sure what is compatable. Was thinking along the lines of a blue tang. Any thoughts?

Hey Dane,

Try posting your question in this thread.. There are already a lot of people watching it and providing awesome feedback.

GL!

An awful lot will have to do with the size of your tank - a blue tang (powder blue, Caribbean blue, or regal blue?) might get along just fine with all those fish in a 220 - not so much in a 55 gallon.

Oh wow. Didn't realize u needed such a large tank. I'm a newbie in this hobby so didn't know which is why I figured I'd ask before I bought. I currently have a Biocube 32. But thank u for thr help

I want to add some type of color to my fish. Preferably a blueish obviously which is why I asked about those

Take a look at the blue gudgeon dart-fish. A pair or trio of those would look pretty awesome. They may be quite shy fish though.

What about some sort of wrasse? Or would 6 fish be pushing it in a 32?

Wow they look pretty awesome. I' not sure how many I can get away with in a 32 gal tank.

Unfortunately a blue tang will not be a good choice for a tank that size, as they grow quite large.

Also, maroon clowns are the largest, most aggressive clown species. So that will limit fish that can be added. Perhaps a watchman goby would work.

If you'd really like some blue, perhaps look into a neon goby? They stay quite small, are lively (and facultative cleaner fish!) and are black with neon blue striping.

A yellow watchman will give you yellow (obviously!) and tiny bright blue dots.

Both of those fish will stay close enough to the rock or sand to hopefully keep them off of the maroon clown's radar.

I'm not sure if this will change but the clown is usually on the bottom

This is where he usually stays

The neon goby would be hopping about or establishing a "cleaning station" on the rock, while the watchman would tend to select a spot near a rock to build a burrow / den, and would stay nearby, ready to dash into their hole if it becomes necessary.

Hmmm. Interesting. What about some type of wrasse? Or do I have to small of a tank

Possibly a possum wrasse or pink-streaked wrasse ... they're pretty shy, though, and may run afoul of the maroon. Additionally ... not much blue in either one.
