Hello! I am considering building a 10 gallon nano reef tank. I have picked out some colorful small size fish recommend for beginners. I was going to ask here if these 3 fish would work together well in a small tank like a 10 gallon. Here are the fish names: Blue/Green reef chromis, Bicolor Dottyback, and a firefish. I have not decided what corals I want to get yet. Thanks for your help!

I also am considering getting a hermit crab or two. I would like them for additional decoration and some algae and uneaten food control. Possibly a dwarf yellow tip crab, or a scarlet reef or dwarf zebra hermit crab. I have heard that crabs do well in pairs.

I would scratch the Chromis for sure. They can get crabby plus they will get larger. The Dottyback may work.
You can look at Live Aquaria's fish section for nano tanks. They have a good list there.

I would say not to put 3 fish in a 10 gallon tank. Chromis and dottyback's are both aggressive. You could put a couple of the fire fish in a 10g

Thanks for your feedback! I will find 2 fish that look nice and colorful. Please tell me if you think the new list would be good. I would also like feedback on the inverts. Thanks!

You could put a yasha goby and a pistol shrimp in a thank that size. You could get cuc that is made up of snails to keep most of the algae in check

I have found a new fish recommend for nano tanks. It is called the royal gramma basslet. Would this work with the firefish?

For a tank that size I would go with your firefish and a cool goby/shrimp pair. Other than that I wouldn't go much further. A royal grammar while at first are ok but as time goes on they become territorial. I had one in a 75 years back and he wouldn't attack but if something got close to his hiding spot he would let them know lol

I have done some searching, and I think that a green clown goby or yellow clown goby would work with a banded coral shrimp or a peppermint shrimp.

The clowngobies and peppermint shrimp should work just fine. Coral Banded Shrimp can be predatory.
