I just wanted to share this site i found that i thought was pretty neat. You can enter fish to see how compatible they are. Following a failed attempt to add a sohal tang as the last tang in my 320 that ended in me having to remove the sohal because he was relentless in bullying nearly all of the tanks inhabitants.

Thanks for sharing :)

Sohals do best in larger groups of tangs and with them being relatively smaller than at least a couple other tangs that are considerably larger — say 2” or more larger. This disincentives them pushing their luck for tank boss, and spreads aggression.

In addition, they start to become more aggressive by about 5-6 inches in length. Best to get one 3-4 inches added with many other tangs for best chance of them playing well with others as they grow.

Nice website find, by the way!

:)

It tells me I can't have a Splendid Dottyback and a Royal Gramma together, but I've had them together for years and no problems.

I need to restock my tank. Had major fish kill while away for 5 days. I have a community/reef tank. 265 gallons (currently looking for a 450) I had 1 tang survive just can't remember what kind of tang he is approximately 7 to 8 in.
Also survived
2 mandarins
3 PJ Cardinals
1 coral beauty
2 Chinese zebra goby
1 blenny (can't remember what kind)
1 star blenny

Just added 5 anthias (since the great fish kill)

I would like to added
1 blonde Naso with 3" streamers 7 1/2 inches (replacing one that died, he's already ordered)
Also would like
1 red sea sailfish tang 4 to 5 "
1 blue hippo tang 4 to 5"
1 clown tang 4 to 5"
1 kole tang
1 purple tang 4"
and 1 So-hol tang

Any thoughts in an order to putting them in? Should I add the So-hol last? (He's approx 4 inches)
I've include the current tang in the picture.

I know I should know all the types but, I name them and always call them by their name forgetting what kind they actually are.

Thank you

I think tang-wise you’ll be OK but choose between clown and sohal. They’re close cousins, both aggressive, and honestly even though some keep together in the long term it’s almost a certainty they single each other out and murder the other, if not immediately. This can be done in 10 foot tanks full of large tangs on occasion but is still a risk.

If you’re doing a purp and sailfin you may be ok but if recommend a trio added concurrently. Perhaps a yellow, scopas, or black tang. Naso first good idea due to large size it will likely intimidate more aggressive future tang additions.

I’d add the zebrasoma first, then hippo, kole, and either sohal or clown together.

Thank you, I was also considering a mac

And won't the yellow and purple fight do to their exact shape?

Palani tang I knew it started with a P. I named her puppers that's why I never remember the correct names but my fish guy is catching on so if I say I need a new Zoey he knows what kind of fish I'm talking about! Lol
I lost a mated set of maroon lighting clown fish also [emoji24] pictures below are before big fish kill

The sailfin is a member of the same family, and larger — it’s likely to neutralize aggression amongst the two. I’ve kept this trio several times over the past 13 years :)
