hi all,

so my tank isn't quite set up yet, but I'm trying to find a stocking list that will work for it to prevent impulse buys and address any compatibility issues before any actual fish are involved..

do you see any problems with this? it's a 60 gallon tank.
2 ocellaris clowns
1 pinkbar goby/pistol shrimp pair
1 lawnmower blenny
1 mccosker's flasher wrasse
1 orange-back fairy wrasse
1 lyretail fang blenny
1 flameback angel

I'd add the wrasses together to minimize aggression. how would these fish get along?

thanks

I've heard orange back an be aggressive (for a fairy wrasse) and flashers are generally very fragile and timid IME

I haven't found orange back fairy wrasses to be aggressive. A 60 is borderline for one, but can be done.

Those fish should be compatible.

so if it is borderline, what steps should I take to make sure one will be happy and healthy in my tank? I've read that they're very active open swimmers, so maybe less LR and more open water? also, in what order would you recommend adding the fish?

More swimming space is best.

I would add in this order:

Pinkbar goby/shrimp
Fang blenny

Mckosker and orangeback

Ocellaris pr

Lawnmower blenny

Flame angel.

The following post may help you out in figuring out your fishes' compatibility.

Here's a link to a compatibility "chart" that I found a couple of years ago.

The Marine Compatibility Guide

This looks like a newer website (2012), but I'm not sure how updated it is.
The compatibility chart section of the website is operational, but the description, care and images about each specific fish species is a work still in progress.
I have not looked into it too deeply yet, but I will spend some more time looking at it.
You can refine your search by aquarium size, care level, temperament and reef safeness.
I did check to see when tangs are considered compatible in a certain size tank. (75gal minimum)

I thought this website could help out when considering which new fish to add to your aquarium; at least a starting point.
For the new hobbyists, it should help with making your stocking wish lists.
They do have a disclaimer saying this is for guidance and to do further research before purchasing any fish.
For the experienced hobbyists, it's still worth taking a look at.
At least use it to waste a few hours of your day.

I think it needs to become an app, so it can be used to check for those impulse buys.

sounds great! I was already planning on having a smaller amount of rock due to cost, I was thinking maybe 50lb would do it? thanks for the link too, I did look at that site, the two blennies and the two wrasses said with caution so I wanted another opinion
