I had a bicolor angel, tomini tang, and a koran angel. The tomini tang and bicolor angel looked perfectly fine, but the Koran angel had small white stuff on his rear fin. I thought it was lymph so I did not worry too much about death or the other fish getting it. I wake up this morning and both the tomini tang and bicolor angel are dead and the Koran angel is on his way out. This is what the Koran angel looks like:

Im sorry the picture is bad, but it almost looks like he has a blotchy white coat on him. My thought is velvet but if you guys have other ideas that would be very helpful thank you.
And another note if you guys could help me with, it seems like I am always dealing with a disease. I had ich(but now thinking it was velvet) about a few months back so I dosed the tank with copper(before i had any corals) and then waited a couple of months before I got any fish. Now I have it again. When I first started my tank a couple of years back I never had a problem with ich or velvet. How do I prevent these things from happening? I do not have a quarantine tank btw..

Probably velvet or brooknelya if it jumped on them that quickly, any other thoughts #reefsquad?

Hard to see much in that pic. It sounds like velvet. Looks as if you may have a possible secondary bacterial infection.

Did they fish have any other symptoms? Reclusiveness, swimming into flow of powerheads, flashing, scratching, etc?

The bicolor angel would sometimes swim like he is trying to shake something off(maybe flashing) so I thought maybe gill flukes so I dosed with prazi pro. He would also scratch himself on the wall sometimes. The Koran angel and tomini tang showed no real symptoms and had just eaten yesterday. None of them swam into the flow of powerheads. I did have have a red stripe angelfish that was reclusive and looked kind of funny(i couldnt tell 100%, but he looked grey-ish). So I took him out and made a make shift quarantine tank(better than nothing) and put a small drop of copper in it, but he died this morning...

Also to add, i do have a yellow head eel, but he seems to be perfectly fine. Not sure if that helps but thought I'd throw that out there.

It looks and sounds like velvet to me as well :( Slight chance it could be brook...in either case all surviving fish (including the eel) would need to be removed and treated in QT. Then the tank should remain fallow for a minimum of 6 weeks. If you’d like to eradicate the ich as well, 76 days.

The angel is probably too far gone (if he hasn’t passed already...) but if you can, give him a freshwater dip and then transfer him to a QT as soon as possible. He will then need treated with copper or cp, whichever you can get first. Eventually, you’ll have to remove the eel as well, and I believe they can handle CP fairly well... but since eels are generally pretty parasite-resistant I’d focus on your other fish first.

If you have acriflavine or methylene blue you could give the angel an antiseptic bath following the freshwater dip to help stave off infection. I’d also suggest kanaplex dosed in the QT (can be used with copper) for the same reason. And for the slight chance it could be brook - metroplex.

So,

1. freshwater dip
2. Antiseptic bath (optional, but a very good idea if you can)
3. QT with copper or cp (copper should be dosed at no more than half concentration and then brought to therapeutic within 48 hours), metroplex(brook), and kanaplex(antibiotic)
4. Fallow tank for 6-weeks to 76 days(ich)

And coming from someone whose had two velvet wipeouts in her reef-keeping career, and had to QT my entire tank twice to be rid of ich... I’d highly suggest adopting a QT protocol moving forward. Sorry for your losses :(

Sorry for your loses. Disease is rampant in the industry these days. I qt everything that’s “wet” to keep my tank healthy and my fish happy.

Can I leave my coral and inverts in the tank while going fallow?

Yes. Leave the corals and inverts in the tank. Feed them as normal. Just can't add anything new that's "wet" until the 76 days of fallow are over. Best of luck. Been in your shoes myself.
PS. Right now is a great time to quickly add any new corals or inverts before the clock starts for the 76 days.

In the case that it is brook, does copper kill it? Or will I need to add metroplex to the quarantine? Right now i just dosed copper to the quarantine.

If it is brook, copper alone won’t do it. In that case, you would need the metro. I’m mostly thinking velvet... the only thing that gives me pause is that you said it looks like a film? I’ll post a picture of each, see which looks more like your fish...

Velvet can present a couple ways, fine sugar-coating, or splotchy:

Sorry to bring this topic back up but the angel has died unfortunately so now all I have in the QT is the eel. Do I still need to treat the eel since eels are pretty parasite resilient? And how do I add him back to the display tank once the 76 days are over? By just using a net? I guess I’m paranoid of re-introducing the velvet/brook back into my tank lol

Oh, man. Sorry for your loss. Yeah, I'd be worried/paranoid about bringing parasites/disease into my DT as well. The problem is the thick mucous coating on eels. It makes them potential carriers of parasites/disease. Recommend treating them with CP. Though many people do treat them with copper there is the potential to do some serious internal damage to the eel's kidneys and liver with copper. Which could considerably shorten the life span.
