Hi all

Quick question? I have randomly lost two healthy looking fish during the night The deaths are about 6 months apart. The first one was Foxface that had for about a year and now a Sailfin that’s been in the tank for about 5 months.

The weird thing is that these fish don’t show any signs and eat. When I find the body in the am all is left is just the skeleton, absolutely no meat left. Is there a possibility of some kind of a parasite or worm that can attack these fish at night?

What should I look for here?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think it would be a bobbit worm, as I don't think you would see the skeleton if they were to get eaten by them.

I would take a flashlight at night, and see if you can see anything, maybe even drop in a piece of shrimp or other meaty piece of seafood.

What do you have for clean up crew. If you have hermit crabs, emerald crabs etc they might be cleaning the carcass at night.

What other fish do you have? Any signs of aggression?
