Anyone ever switched to Rod's food and had fish die? So I switched to Rod's a few weeks ago and about a week later I had a Christmas Wrasse just seem to drop dead and then tonight my Melanarus Wrasse is the same. Neither showed any issues earlier in the day then all the sudden notice them on the laying on the bottom trying to breathe. Everything else in the tank is fine and the only thing that has changed is the introduction of Rod's. Not sure if it is a coincidence or not.

Do you have more info about your system. I wouldn’t blame the food off the bat.

Rods food has an excessive amount of small particles compared to LRS, in my opinion, why I stopped buying it. Maybe too much pollution caused an ammonia spike?

Definitely not saying that is the cause just seems to be the only thing that has changed. Maybe just a coincidence.

I quit using Rods food as it has a pretty strong smell and my fish weren’t wild about it. Did you notice if it was REALLY stinky? Could the food have been left out to thaw and spoil possibly?

Probably just coincidence Josh.
I say that because it's unlikely to kill just one fish at a time. If there was something wrong with the food to the point that it could kill fish, it likely would have wiped out your entire tank all at once.

What little you have described sounds more like a pathogen of some sort that takes time to build up in the fish to the point that it kills the fish.

I dont know if you introduced anything new to the tank, if you QT your fish/inverts before adding them or what.
But I would look down that road for answers.

Best of luck Josh.
