So I just got a new Multicolor Angel that died in the QT within 24 hours after introduction. I’ve ruled out ammonia poisoning since the French Angel that I acclimated it with is doing fine and eating. It was also eating in store and I see no sign of aggression between the multicolor and French. Here’s a pic of the multicolor.

Any ideas?

How is your oxygenation in the tank?

Did the fish seem ok upon arrival and initial acclimation?

How do you acclimate? Drip or float and release?

Did temp and salinity match on the arrival water vs QT water?

Yes upon acclimation the fish seems fine and the tank is well oxygenated. I used the float method and then poured a little water every few mins or so into the bag until salinity is within .01.

For how long? How long from opening the bag till it made it to the QT?

1 hour trip from store to home. Then bag was floated 30 mins, then 10 mins for salinity since it was only a .03 difference. Also did the same to the french an earlier chrysurus with no ill effects

Yeah ammonia shouldn't really even be a factor based on that timeframe.

Do you know how long the store had the fish prior to your purchase? To be fine and then dead within a night makes me wonder what ailed the fish. Typically even with most virulent diseases there is at least some sort of behavioral symptom before death.

I believe it's around 48 hours or more. was eating in the store and very active.
