Hello all,
Over the last few months I have literally lost several fish and I cannot figure out what is happening to them. I have a 200G bowfront with a 75G sump. All chemical levels are appropriate and have been checked by me and LFS randomly. So..about 4 months ago I noticed my 4 inch yellow tang missing. Then a couple months later one of my snowflake clowns disappeared. Bought a a powder brown tang about 4 inches and another pepermint shrimp, which gave me 2 in the tank and both disappeared maybe 2 weeks ago. Today the other clown fish is gone! it was about 2-3 inches which is big for a clown.

Still have a blue tang and Kole tang still in the tank and the 2nd peppermint shrimp (half the size of the original bigger one that is now gone)

Assortment of Zoa's and green ricordia, green star polyp...nothing unusual. Everything lived fine together for the last 1.5 years. Cant even find any remnants of any of them????

For the love of GOD any ideas ????

thanks

Someone is probably eating them? That would be my guess. How are your Nitrate levels? If they are high, they may have been partially eaten and have decayed somewhat. Whenever I have fish disappearing it is 1) jumping out 2) being eaten or 3) dying for some unknown reason and being eaten on the aquarium floor

I have checked the sand bed, around the tank, on top of the tank, both returns...etc. Just not sure what could eat an entire fish that big and be NOTHING left of it by the next day or so???

Fish being eaten that big is pretty weird. I’ve had anemones crawl into the wrong places and disappear, probably into the return pump. They are pretty slimy, though and different from fish with a skeleton. I usually find the remains of fish that have jumped out around under the tank or in the general vicinity. They are less than half the size once they dry up.
