Fish disaster... :(

What about small things the fish did before they died? check the clown for these things....

Heavy breathing, flashing or scratching, lethargy, lack of appetite

The picture of the purple tang resembles a bacterial infection... there are gram negative bacterial infections that can come on very quickly and kill very quickly.

Could a magnet or a pump be bad and leeching something in the water? I'm sorry for your troubles

So sorry about your fish losses. Hope your clown will be okay.

I'm sorry for your losses as well. I actually feel like this is more likely an infection or parasite. When was the last time something wet was added? (Even coral or rock?)

did you test ammonia? looks like the skin was peeling off the only time i've seen that is when ammonia is high mabey some type of chemical got in
Yes, I tested. no ammonia at all. There were no temp swings that I know of, no sign or power outages. Nothing unusual happening around tank. I still have one green chromis and a big maroon clownfish that's doing fine. I was also wondering if it was contamination of some sort, wouldn't the corals be affected? I just have zoas, acans, hammer, etc and all of those look perfect. At least the 2 fish made it through the night.

Contamination may or may not affect corals, but if it didn't affect corals but affected fish it would correlatr with oxygen, or at least how fish can utilize oxygen, so that's why they would all be affected in quick succession, not over 2 days.

Bacterial or a cleaning solution of some kind. Maybe even in your water change. May only take a couple drops of full strength cleaning fluid. Was the spot on the tang before it died? I had a fish swimming around just fine and two hours later found it dead under a rock and it was already being consumed by bacteria.

If you have a copper test kit around, maybe testing for copper? Just another variable to eliminate. I agree with adding a Poly-Filter just for good measure.

And it may not help immediately since results might take a while, but a Triton test might be able to tell you if there is a chemical imbalance/contamination that caused the sudden fish losses.

As it's been stated though, some type of bacterial infection may be more plausible as it correlates to the timeline better and the corals remain unaffected. How that infection got into the tank is what remains to be solved, as you've said you're very careful about what you put into the tank and everyone in the household knows not to go near the tank with chemicals.

Sorry for your loss and I hope you are able to solve your dilemma.

How is the clownfish today? Sounds more like an infection or disease to me.
Edit: also double check temp, make sure all pumps and powerheads are working and plugged into the right places (like nothing on a timer that shouldn't be), no air fresheners near the tank or anything like that.
