I was in a local chain fish store and saw 3 fish, 2 purple tangs and a coral beauty. I was curious what each would be diagnosed having. I didn't buy them but just figured it would help me in ID future fish.

One day I am getting a better camera phone, lol. It's very difficult to tell from the pictures. Are the spots in the first picture actually on the fish's body or on the glass?
I will say that it looks like the first purple tang looks to have HLLE (and maybe something else depending on the answer to my question)
The coral beauty looks to have lympho at the least
Not sure about the last. It could just be reflection but that last purple tang looks pale and washed out. He might have any number of issues, but a bacterial infection comes to mind
They are very broad educated guesses since the pictures are pretty rough and there are no described symptoms to go along with. Just keep that in mind.
The spots on the first are on the fish.
Thanks, I don't plan to get fish there, I usually drive 2 hours to another place to get anything. What tells you HLLE? I was guessing Ick on this fish but never had seen HLLE on a fish.Agree, a combination of HLLE and ich and probably other diseases too like flukes and bacterial infections, usually chain fish stores dont quarantine their fish properly and dont sterilize their tanks, so any fish that gets disease with it will stay in the system and infect other fish so you will find the fish infected with several parasites or infections at a time. Also HLLE usually develop from poor water quality or food. Its better to avoid getting a fish from there except if you are willing to spend a lot of time quarantining and medicating the fish and spending the time to observe for other symptoms that may develop later on.
Thanks, all of this is good information.HLLE happens in tangs for a number of reasons. Poor water quality is a big factor. The white color all the way down the lateral line is the giveaway. You can recover a fish from HLLE, clean water, high quality carbon only(cheap stuff is actually a cause of HLLE) and lots of nutritional food.
Another picture of #3, what makes a fish do pale in color?
