I need help to identify this disease and what caused it. This is the second fish which died this week with the same symptoms with 24 hours.

TIA

Paul

Those "red spots" are very common on Copperband Butterflies. By the time they show, it's almost too late to save them and in most cases it is too late. Highly recommend treating them with Nitrofuracine Green powder as soon as you get them into your QT. The infection/injury seems to be bacterial in nature but infects both the immune systems and the blood of the fish. Very difficult to cure once the red spot is showing.

Also, butterflies (especially pearlscale and copperband in my experience) are somewhat susceptible to uronema.

This does look bacterial in nature I agree with the above. It also appears to have been very thin which can often allow infection to take over rather quickly. Sorry for your loss :(

Thanks for the reply however the same thing happened to my biocolor anthia 3 days ago and today this one. I did treat tank with chemiclean last week as I was battling cyanobacteria for quite some time. Do you guys think it could be the reason for that.

Thanks for the reply. Next week I'm getting red saddle anthias what would be the quarantine protocol for them including treating with any medication and how long in quarantine.
Thanks

Should I start immediately with the copper treatment or first try them to eat at least for few days then start copper.
Thanks

Humblefish what would you recommend SG during that period of treatment and first week of acqiring anthias.
Thanks

Hello Humblefish

What would be the process to quarantine flasher and fairy wrasse. What medication and how long the treatment would be.

Thanks

You want chelated copper, I recommend copper power. I also recommend the hanna copper test kit.[/QUOT

Thanks

First let me gather all the necessary things to set up the quarantine tank and if I have anymore questions I will seek your advice. In last one month I ordered 3 different wrasses from DD and they all looked healthy and started eating the next day. Very active and eating. However roughly after 2 or three weeks they all die at different times. I was confused since they all looked healthy and eating but perished after few days. That's why this time I want to follow the proper quarantine method.
Thanks
