I was thinking about making a cube to block out my power head so I an add my anemones without worries of a power head guard as I know they are not fool proof.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this but I wanted to know if it has worked out or if its possible to make a cube from the dividers or only walls are possible as I did not want to block a whole section of my tank

I have built something similar to what you are thinking from aquamesh just cut it to shape and use zipties.
Not sure what the brand name is over there.

I was thinking to use mesh but then I thought it will get blocked up by algae and restrict the flow, have you run jnto that issue or am I over thinking it?

It's pretty coarse stuff, foams would probably clog up but the mesh stuff flows pretty well.
so we're on same page:

Glad you sent that I was thinking of the mesh bags that usually holds the carbon or media with the fine holes

I’ve zip tied plant baskets when particularly concerned.
