Well I have had my 100 gallon reef tank for almost 2 years and about last thanksgiving I lost all my fish. I believe what happened was that my wrasse that was picking on a lot of the fish caused all of them to die. According to my LFS they told me to run my tank without any fish from thanksgiving till now. Anyway I got my first three fish and one was a sand sifting goby and then a mandarin goby then a blue spotted jawfish. The jawfish jumped out of the tank then the mandarin died, all within 2 days of buying them. My water parameters are
Salinity- 1.025
Temp-79
Nitrate-0
Phosphate-0.04
Ammonia-0

Does anyone have any idea to why my fish are dying because my water parameters are good and fish that I keep adding just keep on dying whether it's jumping out or just dying for no apparent reason. Any suggestions? Btw somehow the sand sifting goby is still alive and well.

Jawfish are known for jumping id get a lid with them. Parameters are good so the mandarin could have just been too stressed or sick already. See how your goby does and go from there

Ok I do have lids but they have a little bit of gap between so the jawfish found a way and snuck out but I will watch the goby and when do I give it the ok to buy another fish?

Flashing light on/off the fish quickly can cause them to be alarmed and jump. Try to use lighting with ramped timers. Try not to flash large reflective objects in front of the tank. And use a fitted lid. The acrylic lids are pretty awesome and still allow for gas exchange.

More details are needed about the mandarin, but sounds like if wasnt healthy or wasting away and the transition was too much stress.

The goby is also a big jumper, so use the above as specific caution for this guy. Its also a very hardy and active. Feed him a lot. Loves mysis, brine, pellets. They will eat all the pods out of the sand bed. They like snacks burried for them a little under the sand. Mine ate anything mid to bottom of the tank.

Boost immune systems with food soaked in a little Vitachem and tankwater prior to feeding.

I would buy another fish or a few you want, and keep them in a QT for at least 2-3 weeks.

Mandrin can be hit or miss was it nice and fat when you got it and eating at the lfs ? As said jaw fish are jumpers. I think you have just been unlucky rather than anything being up with your tank. Are your test kits in date and what types do you use ?

I have Radions so they have a ramp time. But I think the transition time was what killed the mandarin. Hopefully the next fish I buy won't die becuz I'm having a bad feeling that they will. I do have the nutritional booster for the food so I will use that more often.

What do you mean by you think the transition time killed the mandarin?

Was their any aerosol cans or windex sprayed around the tank? I know any air freshener and such can settle in the tank leading to to be catastrophic.
