2 weeks ago I got a red tailed trigger and a scooter blenny from my LFS, acclimated and all was well for 2 weeks, they were eating and swimming about the tank all normally. Then today both of them just seemed die out of nowhere. All my other fish are totally fine (seemingly).
My tank 1.5 years running
79 degree
8.3 ph
11 alk
Undetectable Nitrate and ammonia

Other inhabitants:
Yellow tang
Coral beauty angel
Damsel
Chromis
Basslet
Mandarin
6 line wrasse

Could it be that the fish were sick? Should I be worried about the rest of my tank? Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated.

Was there any marks on them.. any spots you could see , any flashing or hiding from light ... rubbing on rocks , white stringy poop .. ?

The scooter blenny’s color looked “dull” starting about 2 days ago. The trigger would hide in rocks for a lot of the day and would almost look like it was snuggling against them, but would always come out for feeding, however it was extremely skinny when I found it today, almost like it was starved, but I saw it eat.

I did not quarantine

Any way for me to confirm?

Watch all your other fish for symptoms: White dots, heavy breathing, scratching/flashing, swimming into the flow of a powerhead.

I'm betting the Coral Beauty or Yellow Tang will be the first to show signs, if you have a parasite in your aquarium.

Based on?

Two unexplained (new) fish deaths, the Scooter Blenny turning pale, the trigger acting reclusive, the recent prevalence of velvet, and the fact these fish were not QTd..... all suggests velvet.

However, I agree it's too early to say for sure. Need more evidence.
