Yum.... 2 weeks of fish poop from the Skimmer. I'm going to start saving it and then diluting it with water and spreading it on the garden. I poured out the liquid because it is salty but I am not sure if this is.

Yucky!!! LOL

I use my fresh water tanks 'old water' to water all my house plants and some front porch bushes. I definately noticed better greener growth. Good stuff.

If you drain the water off I wouldn't worry about the salt. When I was in Dyersburg and it snowed they would spread salt on the roads with a spreader truck. When it melted it all ran off to the shoulder of the road. In the spring the grass would grow there just like anywhere else. I have poured old water change water down the driveway and it ran out on the edge of the grass and you couldn't tell the difference.

Wouldn't it be less labor intensive and generally less yucky to just go buy a gallon of fish emulsion?

Funny, its not this that stinks, but the liquid in the skimmer.. this just looks like mud to me. You also said the key work. BUY. why Buy when I produce it for free.

Salinization of soils has led to the demise of many ancient civilizations. EC in soil is linked to fertility. I wouldn't be using my dirty water to water any of my plants or anything but the fish poop will be okay. Interesting enough, there is a local company that uses waste from desalinization plants to produce fertilizer. Haven't looked into it much.
