Been reading a lot as i have been since getting into the hobby. When i got my fish, ,2 clown fish my lfs sold me a sheet of frozen food, saying that is all they feed their fish. Th e more i learn i’m beginning to think they are not feeding properly. I don’t even know what brand or or what’s in it, i tore off the wrapper when i got home, i will find out tomorrow, what i do know is the fish love it. From my reading it seems people feed more than one type of food, frozen, flake and pellet. What i want to know is what you feed , how you feed, and how many times a day. People say not to feed more than the fish will eat in a minute or two, my fish will eat about as long as i will feed them, any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I would recommend asking for frozen Mysis shrimp in cubes next time you go to your LFS (looks like the picture below). For your two clownfish, I would recommend 1/2 a cube once a day. You could also get some New Life Spectrum or Hikari Marine S pellets. This way you could alternate pellets and frozen every other day. Variety is good especially with picky fish, but clowns are very hardy and will eat just about anything! Best of luck

Make my own mix of dried, pellets, nori and frozen shrimp with vitamins and some reef chili. Freeze it into 1cm cube silicone ice tray. Use a micro grater and feed once a day. I have 8 smaller (<3.5 inch) fish. Usually make enough for 2 to 4 weeks at one time.

I mainly feed frozen mysis and a small sheet of dry seaweed daily for my tank. It’s about 25 fish with two cubes.

You could in theory feed some species flake or pellets their entire life...I wouldn’t but it’s possible. Most frozen brine shrimp is about as nutritious as a aquatic Twinkie... As for seaweed, I like to use 20% sea lettuce in my sump as opposed to 100% Chaeto , you can recycle it as food for tangs, foxface et

I use diy frozen. I feed once a day a little heavy for all of the other critters

I feed a mix of 4 brands of pellets just for variety once per day. I have nori on clips for my 3 tangs. And I feed frozen food: enriched brine shrimp and mysis. The fish are all fat, active and brightly colored.
