Hello all. My gramma and smiths blenny have been flashing a ton. My salinity is higher than normal. It's 1.030 which is higher than normal but im having issues getting it down. I put reef flux in the water a couple weeks ago to get rid of bryopsis. Im not seeing shy ich. Other than flashing behaviors seem normal. They're social and eating fine. Any ideas? Thanks. 32 gal biocube reef

It is supposed to be reef safe, but there is a risk of killing any ornamental worms as well as the hitchhiker worms you have.
Ideally it should be administered in a hospital tank.

Can you use prazipro with coral and inverts?

It is often done but will make the skimmer go crazy. You need good oxygen so I take the cup off. Add a bubbler if you don’t have a skimmer and aim powerheads at the surface to get good gas exchange.

Do not overdose. Your rock takes up space. So you need a good estimate of actual water volume.

Issues lowering salinity? Take a cup of saltwater out, add a cup if RODI in and you have lowered your salinity. What problem are you having lowering it?

yea lower the salinity asap, just do a cup or two at a time and replace as cell said

also what are you using to measure salinity? I never trust swing arm hydrometers, but tropic marin hydrometer or a refractometer with calibration solution are two or the best ways to check

i found that out the hard way unfortunately

Could be flukes. Prazipro is the treatment of choice. Need to be done 2-3 times 9 days apart.
Hello, I am having a similar problem with my midas blenny. No visible sign of ich but he's flashing against the sand quite a bit. Also social and eating fine. Local shop suggested a freshwater dip but I can't catch the guy and I ended up breaking my net(it was cheap). They also sold me seachems garlic additive which I began soaking their food in tonight. Did a 10gallon water change today if that matters.. Tanks a 53 gallon red sea g1 xl200.

Should I also use the previously recommended medication? No other fish have symptoms as of right now
