Can someone give me my options for a 10g or 15g nano tank? I’m thinking a species only tank with maybe a pair of fish. It will be a standard 10 or 15 gallon. I was originally thinking Firefish, but I saw somewhere that they should be kept separate. Is this true? It’s the first I had heard of it. Also, would they do alright in a 10g or should they really be in a 15-20g?

Unless firefish are a bonded pr they intolerant of each other.

A pr of neon gobies, a colony of barnacle blennies are some options too.

Agreed. There are even examples of Firefish of different species going after each other (ie Regular Red Firefish being intolerant of Purple Firefish, Helfrichi, etc.). @ The OP, a Possum Wrasse, Green Clown Goby, Panda Goby or the aforementioned small goby/pistol shrimp pair would all be good choices for that tank.

I'm going to look into the Panda Goby. I've heard that the relationship between gobies and pistol shrimp is incredible! I'll look at my LFS and see if they have any m/f Firefish in the same tank.
