I dropped a Diamond Gobie in my tank on Saturday. I was really hoping to see it get to work on the substrate. As soon as I placed it in the tank it darted to to the bottom, behind all the rock of course.

Those few fleeting moments seeing it dart to the bottom were glorious. I would like to see it again sometime, however, and I'm getting concerned that it went kamikaze on me. These things can be a little shy but this is ridiculous so I fear the worst. Admittedly, my aquascaping isn't conducive to locating dead fish. If it died back there i won't be able to easily retrieve it.

How dangerous is this for my tank? 260 gallon total system volume, BTW.

I see a little tunnel under a rock that I hadn't noticed before. Maybe, just maybe, the deserter is still alive in there.

It is not dangerous at all. That thing could die in a 20g tank and long as it was cycled, the bacteria and CUC would make short work of it.

Not unusual. They are timid and will eventually come out at minimum for food.
They can be jumpers but rare. As long as it was properly acclimated, it is being what it is- A GOBY !!
